NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Louisville Male Bulldogs girls basketball team won its second game in the annual Music City Classic with an 84-71 win over the Memphis Central Warriors.
It was Memphis Central that controlled the game early, however, reeling off the game’s first eight points. Sparked by two steals and a three-pointer from Emilia Sexton, Louisville Male evened the score with a 10-3 run of its own to knot the score at 10 with 5:09 remaining in the opening quarter.
From there, the score would be tied four times before the opening stanza expired before the Bulldogs got a layup from Jada Owens to give her team the lead with 9 seconds left.
The second quarter was the one in which Louisville Male exerted its dominance. After trading baskets for the first five minutes, the Bulldogs put together an 11-3 in the last 3:48 to take a 43-32 lead to the locker room.
Louisville Male pushed its lead to as many as 15 in the third quarter before ending the frame with a 14-point advantage at 61-47. Memphis Central would win the fourth quarter 24-23, but it would not be enough as the Bulldogs cruised in with the win.
Louisville Male’s Cameron Browning led the game in scoring and rebounding with 24 and 13 respectively. Jireh Washington topped the Memphis Central side of the scoring ledger with 21 points while Brittney Ivory added nine rebounds to lead her squad.
