Stratford (TN) High School 58

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Norcross boys basketball team used huge first and fourth quarter efforts to put away local Stratford High School 95-58 during the final day of the 2017 Music City Classic.

Stratford’s Ivan Buford hit a jump shot to give his team an early 2-0 advantage in the contest, but Norcross answered with a triple from Kyle Sturdiant and never trailed again. In fact, Norcross would reel off 14 straight before Stratford could get on the board again.

Norcross held Stratford to 2-of-14 from the floor in the first quarter to take a commanding 23-8 lead heading into the second quarter. Norcross continued to keep its foot on the gas, leading by as many as 27 in the second quarter before taking a 55-31 lead into the intermission.

Stratford’s best period was the third as the local squad won the period 19-17. However, Norcross reasserted its authority in the final frame, once again holding Stratford to only 8 points on 3-of-15 shooting in wrapping up the 37-point victory.

Strafford got 13 points from Donald Fitzgerald to lead the team.

Norcross put six players in double figures with Sturdiant and Jordan Goldwire leading the scoring column with 16 points each. Joseph Toppin led all rebounders with nine.
