NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Holy Innocents Golden Bears girls basketball team got 31 points from Kaila Hubbard and 20 from Kennedy Suttle in upending local squad Brentwood Academy 71-50 in final day action at the Music City Classic.

 

The first quarter was a back-and-forth affair featuring five lead changes and two ties. Kennedy made one of two free throw attempts with two second remaining to put Holy Innocents ahead by two.

 

The second quarter saw Holy Innocents pull ahead for good. Hubbard drilled two treys in the first five minutes of the quarter and Khayla Pointer added another as the lead grew to 10 points with 3:04 left. Brentwood Academy would cut the lead to six on a layup from Maggie Brown at the 2:01 mark, but it would prove to be as close at the Eagles would come for the remainder of the game.

 

The Golden Bears showed their claws in the third quarter, limiting Brentwood Academy to only 14 points while shooting a smooth 66.7 percent in the stanza to open the lead to 52-37 with one quarter to play.

 

Holy Innocents continued to stifle the Eagles in the final frame and coasted in for the win.

 

Bria Dial led Brentwood Academy with 17 points and Syndi Harvey added 12.
